Tobacco Barns• Preserving History in the Old Belt

December 6, 2018 By Terry Epps Leave a Comment

Preservation Virginia, a private, nonprofit, statewide historic preservation leader holds the notable distinction of being the first statewide historic preservation organization established in the nation. For more than 129 years, Preservation Virginia has worked to ensure the relevance of the Commonwealth’s historic places. The multi-faceted and impactful nature of advocacy programs, six historic sites including Historic Jamestowne and the homes of John Marshall and Patrick Henry that are open to the public, and partnerships with like-minded organizations has enabled Preservation Virginia to create a holistic approach to saving the places that connect us to our diverse, complex history. This approach underscores our belief in the power of community engagement and embracing the places of our past as vital resources for present and future generations.
