A Pictorial History of the University Club of San Diego

This book is about the heritage of one of San Diego’s oldest corporations. The University Club of San Diego’s roots started in the decades following the Civil War, while the country was experiencing a cultural revolution of higher learning and a growing middle class. Men and women with university degrees sought to discuss current events, literature, arts, and culture in refined and private surroundings. That the 105-year-old University Club still thrives today proves that a diverse membership combined with the right leadership can navigate changing times. Today’s Club, which is operated by ClubCorp Inc., the country’s pre-eminent owner and operator of private clubs, offers San Diego’s most impressive views in stylish surroundings. And, a century later, this is the place where current events, the arts and culture are still discussed; where business networking thrives and members form lifelong friendships.
