They Still Ride Good Horses: A History of the American Quarter Horse Association 1990-2014

July 27, 2015 By Katie Gardner Leave a Comment

QuarterHorse

The history of the first 50 years of the American Quarter Horse Association was written at the end of that first half century, 25 years ago in 1989, in a book called “They Ride Good Horses.” The book was called that because those men and women who founded the AQHA did ride good horses.

The next 25 years, from 1990 through 2014, also had its share of conflict, but cool heads prevailed and AQHA continued to become stronger and stronger. In this book, author Jim Jennings writes about that 25 years, about the conflicts and about the accomplishments, and about how the members of the American Quarter Horse Association still ride good horses.
